10 Ways to Keep Your Dog Healthier, Happier, and By Your Side for Longer
They give us unconditional love, tail wags on demand, and that goofy, floppy-eared joy that makes everything better. So the real question is:
How do we make sure they stay with us — healthy, vibrant, and full of tail-thumping life — for as long as possible?

We asked vets, behaviorists, and of course, our own pack of Charmed Paws dogs, to create a list of feel-good, do-able ways to give your pup the longest, happiest life.
No stress. Just tail wags.
1. Feed with Purpose
Nutrition matters — more than the label claims. Whether you're into raw, kibble, gently cooked, or DIY, the goal is the same: a balanced diet packed with protein, healthy fats, fiber, and vitamins.
💡 Charmed Tip: Add in omega-3s (like salmon oil) for skin, coat, and brain health.
2. Hydration = Health
Water is life. Literally. Keep bowls fresh, full, and accessible. Dogs on dry food need even more hydration — or consider adding wet toppers or bone broth.
💡 Travel often? Grab a portable water bottle with built-in bowl. Hydration on the go = happy adventurer.
3. Move That Body
Daily walks are essential, but so is variety. Try:
· Park runs
· Sniff walks (let them choose the path)
· Doggy yoga (yes, it’s real)
· Hide & seek with treats
💡 New location? New charm. Our “Explorer” beads are perfect for commemorating that hike or beach day.
4. Don’t Ignore the Teeth
Dental health is a longevity game-changer. Brushing is best, but dental chews, raw bones (if safe), or natural sprays also help prevent tartar and disease. Have a poodle? Try out the teeth cleaning services at your local groomers, some even perform ultrasound teeth cleaning service – no sedation, noise or vibration!
💡 Smelly kisses aren’t cute. Clean teeth = sweeter snuggles.
5. Train the Brain
Bored dogs get destructive (hello, chewed shoe). Puzzle toys, treat dispensers, and teaching new tricks stimulate their brain and prevent cognitive decline.
💡 Try “learn one new command a month” — it keeps their mind sharp and your bond strong.
6. Keep Things Clean (But Gentle)
Baths, brushing, ear cleaning, and nail trims = wellness essentials. Use natural, pH-balanced products and make it a spa day, not a chore.
💡 Pair grooming days with our puppy massages!
7. Get Those Vets Visits In
Even the healthiest dog needs annual checkups. Catching issues early = more options, less cost, and better outcomes.
💡 Tip: Add a “Vet Visit” every birthday or January to your calendar for yearly wellness check-ups!
8. Protect Their Heart (Literally)
Flea, tick, and worm prevention isn’t just about itching. It protects vital organs and prevents diseases like heartworm — which can be fatal.
💡 When was the last time your pet had their heart tablet? Ask your vet about the best prevention routine for your pup’s size, lifestyle, and location.
9. Routine = Calm
Dogs love predictability. Regular walk times, meal windows, and even where they sleep creates a feeling of safety — which reduces anxiety and supports overall wellness.
💡 Pro tip: Slip their collar on each morning like a ritual. It signals, “Another day of love and adventure begins.”
10. Keep the Fun Flowing
At the end of the day, joy is the real secret to longevity. Play tug, share the couch, go on that random road trip, talk to them like they’re a baby (we all do it).
💡 Dogs can sense your energy. Love — consistent, joyful, tail-wagging love — is the best medicine of all.
Collars That Support the Life They Deserve
At Charmed Paws, our charm collars are built for dogs who live life fully. They're durable enough for daily play, stylish enough for special occasions, and totally customizable to track the big (and small) moments you share.
Because health isn’t just about what goes in their bowl. It’s about how you celebrate their soul.
